Char Dham Yatra is an important Hindu pilgrimage, visiting four sites, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath bundled in the magic of the Great Himalayas. β€œChar” symbolizes four and dham denotes a sacred place in the Hindi language. This travel is done in a clockwise direction starting from Yamunotri, via Gangotri, Kedarnath, and ending at Badrinath.

Your Itinerary

Yamunotri Temple:Β Yamunotri Temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and is located near the source of the Yamuna River in Uttarakhand. It is surrounded by natural hot water springs, the most famous being Surya Kund, where pilgrims prepare prasad. The temple marks thebeginning of the Char Dham Yatra. Devotees believe that worship here protects them from untimely death. The serene Himalayan surroundings add to its spiritual importance.

Gangotri Temple:Β Gangotri Temple is dedicated to Goddess Ganga and represents the spiritual origin of the holy River Ganga. Although the actual source of the river is the Gaumukh Glacier, the temple holds great religious significance. It was constructed by General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th century. Gangotri is the second stop of the Char Dham Yatra. The temple is set amidst breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.

Kedarnath Temple: Kedarnath Temple is one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and is among the twelve Jyotirlingas. It is located near the Mandakini River in the Garhwal Himalayas.According to legend, the temple was built by the Pandavas. The shrine remains open only for a few months due to heavy snowfall. Kedarnath is known for its powerful spiritual energy and majestic surroundings.

Badrinath Temple:Β Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Badri Narayan. It is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges. The temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Vaishnavism. It is the final destination of the Char Dham Yatra. Badrinath holds immense religious and cultural importance for devotees.

Tunganath Temple:Β Tungnath Temple is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is part of the Panch Kedar. Located at a high altitude, it is reached through a scenic trek. According to mythology, Lord Shiva’s arms appeared at this site. The temple offers a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by snow-clad peaks. Tungnath is especially popular among both pilgrims and trekkers.
